According to a report by ESPN, Liverpool are looking to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfield enforcer Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer next summer and have already held discussions with the player’s agent, who is also his mother. The 23-year-old is currently in the final year of his contract with the French giants and has not agreed on a new deal with the club so far. However, PSG would not want to lose a player of his talents and should try to convince him to pen a new deal.
Adrien Rabiot: Player Profile
Rabiot is a PSG Academy graduate and grew up playing football at the youth levels of the French club. He came into prominence while playing for the PSG Under-17 team before being promoted to the Under-19 level in the summer of 2011. The French talent soon caught the eye with his commanding performances in midfield and got a call-up to join PSG’s first-team in 2012.
Since making his senior debut for the Parisian outfit, Rabiot has gone on to make 212 appearances, scoring 23 goals while grabbing 16 assists across all competitions. At the age of 23, he has managed to get a wealth of experience in Ligue 1 while also gaining some valuable game time in the UEFA Champions League.
What Will He Bring To Liverpool?
Rabiot is a complete midfielder and has no weaknesses to his game as such. He is blessed with an excellent passing range and is also quite useful while dribbling with the ball. The 23-year-old primarily plays as a box to box midfielder but can do a good job defensively when he is deployed in a holding midfield role. The Frenchman might lack pace, but he more than makes up for it through his commanding presence in midfield.
Why Should Klopp Sign Him?
With James Milner in his 30’s, the Reds are in need of a long-term replacement for the English veteran and Rabiot fits the bill perfectly. He would also add a lot of quality and depth to Jurgen Klopp’s midfield which is why the Liverpool boss should do everything in his power to snap him up.
At 23, the French midfielder still has his prime years ahead of him which the Reds could look to capitalise on, in the next few years. All in all, he would be an incredible signing and will suit Klopp’s style of play at Anfield. On a free transfer, it should be a no-brainer for Liverpool.
