Celtic managed to scrape past Rangers with a narrow 1-0 victory at Celtic Park on Sunday afternoon. The Hoops began the match on the offensive and dominated the game in the first half. They were denied by some solid Rangers defending as the teams went in level at half-time.
However, the home team turned on the pressure after the break and broke the deadlock through Olivier Ntcham’s close-range finish in the 62nd minute. The match ended 1-0 in favour of the Bhoys which saw their fans go wild on Twitter.
Here are the best reactions from the Celtic supporters as their side close the gap to the Hearts of Midlothian to just three points after four league matches.
There were some fans who summarised the gist of the game perfectly.
Celtic thoroughly deserved to beat Rangers.
The champions were never in danger & I think Celtic had a harder game against Hamilton last w/end.
Brown/Ntcham ran the show….again.
Rangers were poor & I expected so much more based on their obvious improvement.#OldFirm

On the other hand, there were others quick to point out Steven Gerrard’s inexperience in football management.
Just my opinon but you hire a manager with no experience, beat a few nobodys in the Europa qualifiers and think you can compete with the famous Green & White. Talk about being so hopeful the gap is still huge and it will take more than a summer to close it. 🍀💚 #CELRAN #OldFirm

However, there were also some critics who were arguing about the quality of today’s Old Firm derby.
Pretty confident I won’t watch a worse game of football than that all season. #OldFirm

Some were proud of the history of this Scottish Premiership fixture.

Get in @CelticFC !! Most dominant 1-0 I've seen in a long time!! Should've been far more. But the win is all that matters on #OldFirm day!!

In football, all that matters is the final score, and hence, it is no surprise that the Celtic fans are basking on reflected glory. This edition of the Old Firm derby was hyped up as one of the biggest in recent history. Although the game failed to deliver in quality, yet it more than made up for it through another incredible atmosphere and ambience at Celtic Park.
Only time will tell where the Gers go from here, but the Hoops faithful would be hoping that their team can build on this victory and put together a run of wins to establish their dominance once again in the Scottish Premiership.
Love it, or hate it. The Old Firm derby never fails to deliver!
