Chelsea entertained Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge earlier today hoping to get another victory to maintain their 100% winning record this season. The Blues began the match on a positive note and created some excellent opportunities by penetrating through the right flank. However, the Cherries held their own and went into half-time with a 0-0 scoreline.
The home team started to dominate more after the break and finally scored the opener when Pedro found some space and scored with his low shot which beat Asmir Begovic in the Cherries goal. Eden Hazard doubled the lead after the 84th minute with his driven shot as Chelsea ran out 2-0 winners on the day.
Let’s take a look at how each Chelsea player performed during the contest against the Cherries.
GK: Kepa Arrizabalaga – 6/10
The new Chelsea goalkeeper did not have much to do in the game and kept a clean sheet to ensure a victory for his side.
RB: César Azpilicueta – 8/10
The Spaniard was a constant threat down the right flank and put in some excellent crosses during the game.
CB: Antonio Rüdiger – 7/10
Another solid display from the German centre-back! He commanded the backline well and kept a clean sheet for his efforts.
CB: David Luiz – 5/10
The Brazilian defensive ace made a few errors during the contest but was bailed out by some of his teammates. However, he looked comfortable on the ball and played some good passes to set up the front players.
LB: Marcos Alonso – 7.5/10
The Spaniard did his defensive duties and made a lot of positive impact in the final third. He set up Hazard with a delicate ball which made the points safe for the Pensioners.
CM: N’Golo Kanté – 8.5/10
The Frenchman was outstanding at the centre of the pitch and made an excellent tackle after Luiz’s blunder in the first half. He has done quite well to adapt to his new role under Maurizio Sarri.
CM: Jorginho – 8/10
The Italian distributed the ball well and orchestrated some excellent play in the opposition half. He rarely loses the ball and looked classy in midfield.
CM: Mateo Kovacic – 6.5/10
The Croatian midfielder worked his socks off during the game and made some good runs into the Bournemouth box. However, he failed to be a creative threat from midfield.
RM: Willian – 7/10
The Brazilian playmaker was excellent in the first half, often building up play while being penetrative down the right wing. However, his impact on the match wore off after the break, and he was rightfully subbed for Pedro.
ST: Álvaro Morata – 5/10
He made some good runs behind the Bournemouth defence but lacked the magic touch in and around the Cherries penalty box. Another mediocre display from the Spaniard.
LM: Eden Hazard – 9/10
The Belgian international began the match quietly but slowly grew into the game as the game progressed. He was once again excellent on the ball and scored a late goal to earn his team maximum points from the contest.
Substitutes:
RM: Pedro – 8/10
The Spanish dribbler came off the bench to make an immediate impact. He broke the deadlock with a low driven shot from outside the box which gave his teammates the impetus to go and get another win.
ST: Olivier Giroud – 7.5/10
He put on a nice little cameo after coming on and was unlucky not to score on the day.
CM: Ruben Loftus-Cheek – 6.5/10
He made some driving runs from midfield and hardly gave away the ball.
