Celtic outplayed their opponents in the Europa League final qualifying round as they demolished Suduva 3-0 in the second leg of the encounter. Brendan Rodgers’ men made sure that they were able to make it through to the group stages of the Europa after their arch-rivals Rangers also made it through earlier in the day.
The Scottish champions looked in supreme touch against their Lithuanian opponents as Leigh Griffiths, Callum McGregor and Kristoffer Ajer scored in a resounding victory. Their Lithuanian opponents never looked in control of the match and surrendered to a vastly superior Celtic.
This is how the Celtic players were rated in their dominating victory over Suduva.
Craig Gordon: 6
Had a quiet evening in goal as he was not disturbed by the Suduva forwards.
Mikael Lustig: 6
Looked confident from the word go. Tried to go forward as often as possible.
Dedryck Boyata: 7
Superb effort from the Belgian to keep the opposition attackers at bay. Made a few brilliant clearances. Important Celtic holds on to him this transfer window.
Kristoffer Ajer: 8
A near-perfect outing for the young defender as he stood firm in the heart of the Celtic backline. His pinpoint header was the final nail in the coffin for Suduva.
Kieran Tierney: 7
Agile as ever. Made many darting runs into the opposition half to set up his teammates.
Callum McGregor: 8
Showed his brilliance in keeping the ball in the midfield and doubled his side’s lead with a well-timed strike.
Scott Brown: 7
The Celtic captain marshalled his troops well and kept the ball possession with his physical game.
Oliver Ntcham: 8
A brilliant outing for the midfield ace. Looked lively and moved forward whenever there was an opportunity.
Michael Johnston: 8
A night to remember for the 19-year-old. Built waves of attack with his brilliant passing. Could do a lot better with a little more accuracy though.
Scott Sinclair: 7
Was not a completely convincing performance as his name should have been on the scoresheet. However, complemented the overall progress of his team very well.
Leigh Griffiths: 8
Led the line for Celtic like a champion. Opened the scoring with a brilliant free-kick, which also marked his 100th goal for the Hoops.
Substitutes:
Emilio Izaguirre: 6
Came on for Tierney and did well to put the pressure on the opposition with his darting runs from the back.
Ryan Christie: 6
Played well to guide his side to a crucial victory as he was brought on for Griffiths. Came close to scoring after a superb move.
Jonny Hayes: N/A
Played too little to warrant a rating.
