Manchester United are going through a mini-crisis right now after being handed back to back defeats against Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur respectively. Jose Mourinho is also losing the plot and has demanded more respect from the media with the focus of attention firmly on his performance as the United boss. There has also been many first-team stars who have struggled to find consistency so far this season which would worry the Man United supporters.
Luke Shaw: Man United’s Silver Lining?
However, there has been one positive from their under par campaign so far and that has been the incredible performance of Luke Shaw in each of the club’s recent league matches. The 23-year-old was named the man of the match for his outstanding display against Leicester City in the opening game of the season. Shaw has followed that up with two tireless performances for the Red Devils which was even praised by Mourinho.
The Shaw-shank Redemption Under Mourinho
The Special One disclosed that the English defender could not have played any better versus Spurs last weekend and it was clear from his performance that he was the best Man United player on the pitch.
The Southampton academy product scored the winning goal against the Foxes but it was his defensive work which has caught the eye of late. Shaw has been a constant outlet for the Red Devils down the left flank, often linking up play with Alexis Sanchez or Anthony Martial while also tracking back and doing his defensive duties to the best of his abilities.
Shaw’s Improvement And Bright Future At Old Trafford
Mourinho is finally getting to see the best out of the English full-back since his arrival from Southampton in the summer of 2014. If Shaw can continue to keep up this high level of performance, then he should solidify his place as United’s first choice left-back for years to come.
The 23-year-old is blessed with electric pace while he has also shown that he can deliver some inviting crosses from the left flank. As long as the full-back can keep things tight at the back, there is no doubt that he would become a future star at Old Trafford.
Mourinho’s Favourite Son?
He is currently one of the first names on Mourinho’s team sheet, and even when the Reds of Manchester are going through such a difficult time, Shaw has stood out to become one of the best players. Let’s see whether he can continue his recent good run of form in the coming matches and help his team get back to winning ways on the pitch.
