Wolves will travel to the nation’s capital to take on West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday after holding Manchester City to a well-deserved draw last weekend. They also managed to progress into the next round of the League Cup following a solid 2-0 victory away at Sheffield Wednesday. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side has made a mixed start to their Premier League campaign and would now look to get some wins under their belt so that they don’t get dragged into a relegation dogfight in the second half of the season.
It is expected that the Wolves boss will opt for a 3-4-3 formation yet again and could name a similar side that lined up against City last weekend.
3-4-3 Wolves Predicted Lineup To Face West Ham United
Defence
The Portuguese shot-stopper Rui Patricio will start for the West Midlands side after pulling off one of the saves of the season against Manchester City last weekend. However, John Ruddy is hot on his heels after making a rare start for the West Midlands outfit in midweek when he kept a clean sheet away at Sheffield Wednesday. The Wolves backline will be comprised of Ryan Bennett, Conor Coady and Willy Boly.
Boly scored a crucial goal against City which earned his team a vital point at home. Nuno Espirito Santo will now be hoping for a resolute defensive performance from his players against a struggling West Ham side, who are expected to play an open, free-flowing game of football under Manuel Pellegrini.
Ruben Vinagre might come off the bench once again if required after making his first start of the season against the Owls.
Midfield
The Portuguese midfield partnership of Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho would continue at the middle of the park with Matt Doherty hugging the right touchline while Jonny, who is on loan from Atletico Madrid, operates on the left-hand side of Nuno Santo’s midfield. They will all be responsible for stopping the Hammers from dominating possession and would also need to provide support for their front players.
Attack
The hard-working duo of Diogo Jota and Helder Costa might be deployed behind Raul Jimenez, who would spearhead the Wolves attack. The Mexican centre-forward scored in the opening game of the season against Everton but has since gone cold in front of goal.
Jota would also be hoping to make a positive impression in the Premier League after an excellent Championship campaign last term. The 21-year-old forward has struggled to find the back of the net so far and needs to up his game if he wants to start on a weekly basis in Nuno Santo’s first XI.
