According to the Daily Star, Anthony Martial is set to stay at Manchester United for the rest of the season. This comes as a surprise for a number of people after his agent had said that the Frenchman is ready to leave the club in the recent past.
Martial’s agent Phillippe Lamboley made the sensational claim that his client is not willing to extend his stay at Old Trafford when he said, “After thinking about all the factors and possibilities, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United.
“Manchester United want Anthony to extend his deal and do not want him to leave but we have not reached an agreement for several months.”
However, the player is now reported to stay back at the club and fight for his place under Jose Mourinho. The two do not have a very good relationship as the Portuguese manager is far from impressed with the French attacker’s prowess, which made it all more certain that he wants him out of the club as well.
But his recent decision seems to contradict this theory as Mourinho handed a starting berth to Martial in United’s last match against Brighton and Hove Albion. The player was brought into the team in place of Alexis Sanchez, who did not have a good time in the season opener against Leicester City, which the Red Devils won by 2-1.

However, the last match saw the 13-time Premier League champions succumb to a defeat by 3-2 at the hands of the Seagulls away from home. This has mounted more pressure on the Portuguese gaffer and has raised questions on his man management skills, eventually increasing the possibility of him facing the sack in the near future.
