Everton had a decent outing in the first two matches of the season so far, drawing the first while winning the second one. However, they would be all set to face a stern test in their next match when they go up against Bournemouth, who have won both their games in the Premier League campaign so far.
The Toffees had a good outing in the last match against Southampton and dominated the proceedings from the word go to win it against the Saints. However, their defence looked fragile on occasions as Danny Ings took advantage of the lapses to net one from close range but could not save the match for his new team.
Against the Cherries, Marco Silva’s men would have to show greater resilience and mend the loopholes to block the goals. Their new recruit, Richarlison, has been in fine form with three goals in two matches already and a lot would again depend on him to give the Merseyside club advantage over their opponents in the next match.
Team News
Everton have some injury concerns, as Yerry Mina, Phil Jagielka, Andre Gomes and James McCarthy are out with injuries. Bernard and Morgan Schneiderlin might also be left out of the side with minor concerns for the encounter against Bournemouth.
This is how the Toffees might line up against the Cherries.
Defence
The Everton defence has been the weakest point of their team so far this season, with defenders not being able to contain the opposition strikers on some occasions. While there might be no change in the starting eleven from the last game that they won against the Saints, the likes of Michael Keane, Mason Holgate, Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines will have to make sure that they hold their fort. Jordan Pickford will be starting in the goal.
Midfield
Tom Davies is expected to start alongside Idrissa Gana Gueye in the midfield in the absence of Schneiderlin and form an extra cushion for their leaky defence. Theo Walcott, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison will have the onus of leading the attack on their shoulders and will look to make early inroads into the opposition box.
Attack
Cenk Tosun will be the lone man up front and would look to open his goalscoring account for this Premier League season.
