Arsenal have made a nightmare start to their Premier League season after being outclassed by Manchester City in front of their home supporters in the opening weekend of this campaign. It was followed by another lacklustre display against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge where their finishing was woeful in the final third. The likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Alex Iwobi have all missed some glorious opportunities in the first half which ultimately cost the Gunners all three points.
Maybe Time To Take a Gamble On A Aubameyang And Lacazette Forward Duo!
However, with some winnable fixtures coming up in the league, it might not be all over for the North London outfit but their new manager Unai Emery needs to find a solution soon. Otherwise, it might be curtains for them in their quest to claim a top 4 spot at the end of the season. Although Emery’s men have lost two successive games in a row, yet there have been some positives from their performances so far.
Aubameyang is getting closer to scoring with each gameweek while Alexandre Lacazette looked a real threat after coming off the bench against Manchester City. Maybe, it’s finally time for Emery to think about unleashing the attacking pair from the start in the upcoming fixture against West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium.
Both strikers are natural goal-scorers and possess a lot of pace to cause trouble in the opposition half. However, Emery is in dire need of finding a way to incorporate both of them into his team. With similar traits, both Lacazette and Aubameyang offer a lot of pace, power, and goal-threat up top but they lack the understanding to operate as a striking duo.
Regular Game Time And Support From An Incredibly Talented Midfield Could Be The Answer
Hopefully, with regular game-time under their belt, the pair can find a way to work together for the team and strike up one of the best attacking partnerships in the Premier League. It seems like that is the only way the Gunners can put their recent miseries behind and make a realistic push for a top 4 spot this season.
With some talented playmakers such as Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil operating behind them, there should be a plethora of opportunities for them to score which is what Arsenal are in need of right now.
Both Aubameyang and Lacazette have a combined tally of 27 goals in between them since the start of last season. However, the Gabonese forward only arrived at the club in January and took Lacazette’s place in the Gunners first-team, much to the frustration of many Arsenal supporters.
If given a chance, both of them could bang in the goals on a consistent basis. Maybe, deploying them as a forward pair would be the most effective solution that Emery has at his disposal right now if his team are to improve and compete with the big clubs of the Premier League.
