Arsenal‘s season might not have started on the right note, but they can soon get a massive boost as Aaron Ramsey is reportedly keen on signing a new contract at the Emirates. The Welshman’s contract situation hasn’t been sorted for months now as he has entered in the final year of his contract. The midfielder was even dropped in the second game against Chelsea where they lost 3-2.
All this will come as a surprise to many as there were reports earlier that Unai Emery would build his team around the Welsh midfielder. With two games into the season, Ramsey found himself on the bench for one of those. Though, it can be a tactical decision from the Spanish manager who seems to have a lot on his platter currently.
It’s being reported that the Gunners have warded off interest from various clubs for Ramsey and the club is keen on tying him up. However, the 27- year-old is willing to play the waiting game as he would want to get as close to £350,000 a week contract which is earned by Mesut Ozil currently. Ramsey also happens to be the longest-serving player in the Gunners squad.
It will be a disaster if Ramsey becomes a free agent by next year and Emery should try all means to tie him up. The Welshman has been linked with the likes of Barcelona, so the player can be tempted to play for the Spanish giants if he doesn’t commit his future with Arsenal.

Ramsey was instrumental under Arsene Wenger last season as he popped up with some crucial goals now and then. Given the performance of Granit Xhaka, the Gunners should be starting with Ramsey regularly as he can offer much more than the Swiss international. It remains to be seen whether the Gunners board will offer him a new improved contract soon.
