Manchester United slumped to a 3-2 loss against Brighton and Hove Albion and Paul Scholes has come down heavily on Paul Pogba after he commented after the game that his attitude wasn’t right for the game. Jose Mourinho has shown a big vote of confidence in the World Cup winner as he has handed him the captain’s armband as Antonio Valencia is injured. However, Pogba has failed to replicate the form he showed in the World Cup against the Seagulls.
After the game, Pogba said,” My attitude was not right. It has to be a big lesson for us. They had more hunger than us.” Such comments didn’t go down well with former United midfielder Paul Scholes who was quoted as saying,”I hope that is lost in translation. There is no defence for that comment, there is no defence for it. You say it to yourself, don’t you? You’re constantly saying to yourself: “Attitude right, make sure it’s right. You don’t need other people to tell you. You don’t need a manager to tell you that or your team-mates.”
Pogba’s attitude and his willingness to give everything while playing for United have always been questioned. There have been occasions when one feels that he is taking the game a bit too casually as he runs around leisurely and doesn’t bother to help his team out defensively.

Such an attitude will need to change if United are going to challenge for the title. Mourinho would want his main midfielder to step up in adverse situations like the Brighton game but, the Seagulls were just too good on the day as they trampled United all over the pitch. Scholes has often been very vocal of United’s criticism since he retired and one cannot blame him, as the United squad thought that they could just turn up at the Amex and gain full three points without putting in a shift.
