In the second London derby of the season, Tottenham Hotspur took on Fulham at Wembley Stadium. Spurs looked to press from the word go, and the first break for the North London club came via a sizzling strike from their Brazilian winger Lucas Moura.
Their lead lasted only a few minutes as Aleksandr Mitrovic scored an equaliser from a low range header to beat Hugo Lloris right after the restart. Fulham looked to fight their way back into the game and went onto the attack mode after the Tottenham goal. However, it was a temporary respite as Spurs went onto score two more goals, courtesy Kieran Trippier and Harry Kane, which put the game beyond the reach of the Lilywhites and handed Tottenham their second win of the season.
This is how the Tottenham Hotspur players were rated after their comfortable win over Fulham.
Hugo Lloris: 7
Had an excellent game once again. The goal he conceded was not his fault.
Kieran Trippier: 8
Another blistering performance from the English right back as he went onto deliver telling balls into the danger areas continuously. The goal was the cherry on the top.
Jan Vertonghen: 6
Worked diligently to keep the Fulham attackers at bay and his effort seemingly paid off.
Toby Alderweireld: 6
Was very relaxed and composed from the word go. Played the perfect foil for his compatriot Vertonghen.
Davison Sanchez: 5
Looked a bit off colour and was to some extent guilty for allowing Mitrovic to score the goal.
Ben Davies: 6
Held his position and made good runs into the opposition penalty box.
Eric Dier: 6
Reliable as ever, whether in midfield or defence.
Christian Eriksen: 7
A tidy and diligent performance from the Danish midfielder as he tested the opposition custodian a few times with his sudden shot-making.
Lucas Moura: 8
Set the game abuzz with his Brazilian flair and was the one to break the deadlock with a stunning strike right from the edge of the opposition penalty box.
Dele Alli: 7
A composed show from the English star once again, proving that it is as hard to mark him as it is to copy his new style of celebration.
Harry Kane: 7
Was unfortunate to have a goal disallowed early on. Made amends for it with a clean strike in the 77th minute to provide his side with their third goal and to put the “August curse” to sleep. Could have had one more in the 82nd minute though.
Substitutes
Mousa Dembele: 6
Dictated terms in the midfield as he came on for Sanchez with Dier slipping into the centre of the defence.
Eric Lamela: 7
Looked agile from the word go and it was from his assist that Harry Kane sealed the game for Spurs.
Harry Winks: N/A
Played too little to warrant a rating.
