According to French News Outlet Maxifoot, Arsenal star Mohamed Elneny is being targeted by Ligue 1 club Olympic Marseille. The Phocaeans let their midfield ace, Andre-Franck Zambo Anguissa, to leave the club for Fulham and they are reportedly in need of an enforcer.
The 26-year-old midfielder played in the pre-season friendlies but it seems he has not been able to impress the new manager Unai Emery. The Spanish tactician did not use the Egyptian defensive midfielder in the first encounter against Manchester City, which the Gunners lost by 2-0, and things don’t tend to change in the future as well. So, the Ligue 1 transfer window being still open, there is a possibility that he might let Elneny leave this summer.
In the last season as well, the midfield ace had fallen down the pecking order under Arsene Wenger and there were rumours of him being offloaded. However, he was included in the team in the latter half of the season and helped his side to reach the final of the Europa League. He was even handed a fresh contract by the North London club.
However, in the current circumstances, the Arsenal player’s future at the club seems to be unstable. Unai Emery has already made a number of inclusions this summer including the likes of Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi who are capable of stepping in for the 26-year-old. Both the new signings were also handed opportunities in the first match ahead of Elneny, pushing the Egyptian down the pecking order.

He was not even brought on as a substitute by Emery, which shows that he has not been able to impress the new manager. So a move to Marseille would be a good one for all parties involved.
