Rangers have started their campaign in the Scottish Premiership with one win and one draw this season. Their players are looking good, and the new look side under the tutelage of Steven Gerrard has already started performing as the fans would have hoped. The Gers notched up a clinical win against St Mirren in their last match with Alfredo Morelos and Connor Goldson getting their names on the scoresheet. However, it seems that Gerrard should look to add some more steel to his side, especially up front before the end of the transfer window on 31st August.
The new Rangers manager has been looking to bring in former Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty to Ibrox this summer, who currently plies his trade for Hearts. The player, reportedly, is also interested in making his way back to his former club, but the Hearts hierarchy are not willing to let him leave. The 33-year-old Northern Irishman is known for his agility and goal-scoring abilities and can be an excellent inclusion to Gerrard’s team this summer.
Rangers have Morelos as their primary weapon this season, and he is expected to lead the line throughout the current campaign. However, there is a shortage of another quality striker in the side as their new recruit Umar Sadiq has looked immature when it has come to decision making.
So it would be a wise decision for Gerrard to beef up his attack with a player like Lafferty, who has years of experience playing in the Scottish top flight. Also, the fact that he was a former Rangers player would help him gel with the squad quickly, supporting the new gaffer to have a range of choices at his hand.

Gerrard has the arduous task of getting the better of their arch-rivals and reigning Scottish champions Celtic, who had dominated the proceedings on the domestic front in the last couple of seasons. Under Brendan Rodgers, the Hoops have looked invincible on the Scottish soil, and it would be a considerable challenge for the new look Rangers team to topple them from their position.
Gerrard will need all the experience he can gather to accomplish the task, and it will be a big boost for him if he can land the veteran striker this summer from Hearts.
