According to the Newcastle Chronicle, Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez was once again left fuming as he was given the cold shoulder treatment by the club hierarchy. Though he managed to rope in seven players this summer, speculations are rife that the Spaniard had to settle for lesser than what he had expected and will have to make do with the resources he has at his disposal after a disappointing transfer window.
The former Liverpool manager has been voicing his demands to bring in top quality players to help his side compete with the best teams in England since Newcastle gained promotion to the top flight. Benitez, given the brilliant tactician he is, has turned the tide in his team’s favour and helped them fight their way to a tenth place finish in the Premier League last term. However, he is looking to better the position this season but due to the lack of funds available, the Spanish manager had to do with a number of loan signings to beef up his attack, midfield and defence.
As per reports, Benitez wanted to bring in Ragnar Klavan from Liverpool to stabilise his defence for the next term but the lack of funds has seen him scrap that plan as well. Though Jurgen Klopp would have rejected the offer as he wants the 32-year-old Estonian to stay at Anfield, this has not reportedly gone down well with Benitez and the Newcastle hierarchy.

Benitez might still not play hardball with the management over the repeated lack of interest they are showing in his plans but it is to be seen for how long they can test his patience.
