According to Football.London, Arsenal are in with a last-ditch attempt to land Domagoj Vida. The Croatian defensive ace has been one of the best performers in the World Cup, guiding his side to reach the final of the tournament and ending as runners-up.
The 29-year-old stocks have gone up in the transfer market and his current club, Besiktas, are reportedly looking to cash in on that. The Black Eagles are looking to let go off their prized possession this summer and Arsenal, as per reports, have already opened talks with the Turkish giants with a transfer fee in the region of £20m being on offer.
Arsenal’s new manager Unai Emery has already made a number of inclusions in the side this summer. However, he does not look satisfied with his backline and needs to add more steel to it. Vida can be a good option for the Spanish manager as he has an arduous task at hand to turn back the fortune of the North London club after the disappointment of the last two seasons in the Premier League.
Reports emerging from Turkish media outlet Aksam, however, state that the player has no intention of leaving the club and he has told that he “loves Istanbul” and wants to stay back at the Turkish capital. The club’s head of football transfers, Umet Guner, has come out to say about the transfer saga that the club also loves Vida very much but it is also important for the player to understand the conditions of the club.

The reports also say that Besiktas president Fikret Omran is in London with a few other club officials to finalise the deal before the 5 pm deadline on Thursday.
