According to the Mirror, Manchester United have turned their attention towards Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma as there has been still no breakthrough in the deals regarding Toby Alderweireld and Harry Maguire. Zouma has fallen down the pecking order in the Chelsea lineup and is expected to be sent on loan this summer as well.
The 23-year-old has been out of favour at the west London club and is targeted by a number of clubs including the likes of Everton. However, the Toffees are keen to have him on loan whereas Manchester United might look for a permanent transfer.
The French defender was one of the preferred choices under Jose Mourinho but since the arrival of Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge, who implemented the three-man defensive formation, Zouma’s career progress came to a standstill. He was eventually sent on loan to Stoke City, where he notched up 34 appearances in the last season. The Potters, however, had a poor season in the Premier League and were relegated with the defender returning to the Bridge this summer.
Manchester United have been looking to bring in a new defender and are still hot on the heels of the likes of Alderweireld and Maguire but from the look of things, the Red Devils are set to miss out on both the defenders. Reportedly, they are also set to miss out on Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng and Barcelona centre-back Yerry Mina, who were recently linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Chelsea, however, might not be willing to let the defender leave permanently until there is a player, someone like Anthony Martial, on offer from Manchester United’s side but the Red Devils, reportedly, are not willing to let him leave this summer.
