As per latest reports, Arsenal will have to shell out £26.9m to acquire Croatian defender Domagoj Vida. However, the move is only likely to happen if the Gunners go on to sell some players as they have already spent close to £70m in the transfer market. Arsenal were hoping that they can have a player plus cash deal as Besiktas are in need of a goalkeeper after they sold Fabri to Fulham. The player they want to involve in the deal is David Ospina. Though the Turkish giants are only interested in making a straightforward sale for the player
Callum Chambers has gone on to join Fulham on loan and that could indicate that the Gunners might go after a defender in the transfer market. It is believed that Besiktas are keen on selling the Croatian defender as they know that the stocks for the 29-year-old is on an all-time high after his impressive performance in the World Cup.
Besiktas president Fikret Orman is reportedly in London as he tries to cash in on the popularity of the Croatian World Cup star.
The Gunners have acquired well in the ongoing transfer window as they have looked to solve their defensive issues by signing the likes of Stephan Lichsteiner, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Bernd Leno. However, many still are of the opinion that Shkodran Mustafi is a weak link in Arsenal’s defence and that could be one of the reasons why they are still looking to add a centre-back.

Vida was a relatively unknown name before the World Cup and has not yet proven himself in the top leagues of the world. Premier League will be a big test for him and it remains to be seen whether the Gunners will make a late move for him in the transfer window.
