Arsenal are ready to make a late move for Barcelona attacking ace Ousmane Dembele this summer. According to the Mirror, the Catalans forward is currently unhappy after falling down the pecking order under Ernesto Valverde last season. It is believed that the Gunners are willing to provide him with an escape route and are set to make a whopping £89m offer on transfer deadline day.
The signing of Malcom could see him get even less game time in the upcoming campaign. Mundo Deportivo are now claiming that Arsenal boss Unai Emery will test Barca’s resolve by putting in a mammoth £89m bid on Thursday. The North London outfit are still looking to strengthen their squad before the new season kicks off in a few days time.
The 20-year-old wide man signed for the Blaugrana from Borussia Dortmund last summer but his career at the Nou Camp has taken a turn for the worse after the young speedster was plagued with injuries in the previous campaign. He has not been able to settle himself in Catalunya and could now look to seal a move to North London in search of greener pastures.
The French prospect had played a full match on just two occasions during the course of last season with most of his appearances for the Catalans coming off the bench. Dembele was sidelined following a serious muscle injury back in September last year which cost him four months of his season.
With Phillipe Coutinho, Lionel Messi, Paco Alcacer and now, Malcom all preferred ahead of him, it is highly likely that he won’t get too many first-team opportunities next term. The 21-year-old had featured in 24 matches for the Spanish heavyweights last season, scoring 4 goals while providing 9 assists across all competitions.
