According to the reports in Marca via Team Talk, as cited by Football Talk, Chelsea have agreed on a loan deal to bring Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic in this summer. The Real Madrid ace was one of the main candidates to depart Santiago Bernabeu this summer and it seems that the Blues are the clear winners in the race to land him. Latest reports are indicating that he is currently undergoing his medical at the West London club.
The loan deal includes an option to make the deal permanent for the West London giants next season, as they look to beef up their midfield options. They have already brought in Jorginho this summer and have stalwarts like N’golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas in their lineup and the potential addition of a player like Kovacic will definitely give them an edge over their rivals in the next season.
The situation at Real Madrid involving the 24-year-old midfielder, on the other hand, has become more complex as the player reportedly had denied training with the team in a bid to push his way out of the club. The player has been used more as a sporadic option in the midfield, with the likes of Luka Modric, Casemiro and Toni Kroos stacking up the ranks, hurting his desire to experience regular first-team football.
This made the player speak publicly about his wish to leave Bernabeu, which is reportedly set to be fulfilled with a move to Stamford Bridge looking imminent. Maurizio Sarri will be more than delighted to have a player like Kovacic in his ranks as he prepares to start his maiden campaign in the Premier League.

Manchester United were also interested in signing the player this summer but the Croatian midfielder’s reluctance to play under the former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly turned the tide in Chelsea’s favour.
