Claude Puel started his reign at Southampton in a rather slow manner but the team picked up their game after a few games wrapping up four straight wins. However, after two draws in all competitions in their last two games, things can improve at the St. Mary’s Stadium. We cannot really blame Claude Puel for the relatively slow start to life in England. It’s only his first season in English football and even the best of managers need time to adjust to a new League.
Southampton did not really make their presence felt in the summer transfer window last time out. Claude Puel probably wanted to first see what his squad has in them and then react on the transfer market. The former Lyon manager, with his immense experience at the top level, has already come to know what his players are capable of and we expect him to act in the market accordingly.
According to a recent report from Calciomercato this afternoon, Southampton are interested in making a move next summer for PSV Eindhoven winger Luciano Narsingh. The Netherlands international will be out of contract with the Dutch Eredivisie holders next summer, meaning that teams will be able to swoop for Narsingh and sign him for no transfer fee whatsoever.
Eredivisie has always been the hunting ground for the Premier League sides and Southampton have good experience of bringing in players from the top tier of the Netherlands. The Saints have brought in players like Pelle, Clasie, Tadic, Martina from Eredivisie in the past and Narsingh can be another success story in the making.
Blessed with a blistering pace in his locker, the Dutch international is capable of plying his trade on either flank. Unlike most modern day wingers, the Dutchman can make accurate crosses into the centre for his teammates which is well reflected from his 1.4 successful crosses this season. The 26-year-old is blessed with a brilliant ball control and jaw-dropping dribbling ability and has made as many as 2.1 dribbles every game this season.
Narsingh boasts a good vision and has made as many as 1.7 key passes every game this season. The two-time Eredivisie winner knows where the goal is and has an eye for setting up assists for his teammates. He has managed to find the back of the net 25 times for PSV till date while setting up 31 goals from 147 games.
Boasting an ample amount of European and international experience, Narsingh would be a great coup from the Saints on a free transfer if they can sign him next summer. The Dutchman can also be available in January on a bargain as the Eredivisie holders will want to seek whatever they can get or the player rather than losing him for nothing this summer.
