Thibaut Courtois has gone rogue as he has failed to show up for first two days of the training sessions after the Wolrd Cup. It is no secret that he wants to move away from the club with Real Madrid being his prefered destination. Chelsea will surely not want to have a disrupter like Courtois in the squad and now they are looking to make a move for Kepa Arrizabalaga who currently plies his trade for Athletic Bilbao.
It’s believed that the Spanish club will not negotiate in any circumstances therefore to land him, Chelsea will have to match his release clause which is set at £71m. Reports suggest that the Blues will be willing to pay that much amount for the 23-year-old.
If Chelsea goes on to land him it will break Alisson Becker’s record of being the costliest goalkeeper of all time as the Reds had acquired the Brazilian for a fee of £62m from AS Roma. Arrizabalaga at just 23, has represented the Spanish national team and is touted as a huge talent in his homeland.
The goalkeeper was also part of the Spanish squad at the World Cup and is likely to be a regular for them in the future. Courtois’ behaviour has been unprofessional and Chelsea in no way should entertain that by keeping a player who doesn’t want to play for the jersey.

With so less time left in the table, there can be some mad scamper for a goalkeeper in the end from the Blues. Bilbao will be aware that Chelsea doesn’t have time on their side so there is no way that will sell Arrizabalaga less than his release clause. Maybe the Blues should look closer home to replace Courtois as someone like Jack Butland will come in much cheaper.
