Bayer 04 Leverkusen wide man Leon Bailey has recently admitted that there is genuine interest from Chelsea for his services this summer. According to an interview conducted by the Kicker, the Bundesliga sensation revealed that both the Blues and Liverpool are keeping tabs on him during this summer transfer window.
The new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is planning to strengthen his squad before the transfer window slams shut in a few days time so he would do well to snap up the Jamaican prospect in the coming days. Bailey had put in a string of majestic displays for the German club during the course of the last campaign which has not gone unnoticed by other clubs.
At the tender age of 20, the talented left winger had made 34 appearances for Leverkusen last season, scoring 12 goals while providing 6 assists across all competitions.
It should not be a surprise that so many European clubs were vying for his signature this summer as he has incredible potential and could be a future star in European football. Liverpool have sealed a move for Xherdan Shaqiri last month so it looks unlikely that the Reds will move in for him this summer which would leave the door open for Sarri’s Chelsea to land him in the next few days before the transfer deadline on Thursday.
With the future of Willian uncertain at Stamford Bridge, Bailey could be an ideal replacement for the Pensioners as he has bags of pace and a keen eye for goal. However, the fact that so many young talents have hardly found any game time at the West London club will be a cause for concern for the youngster who clearly needs as much first-team experience as possible in order to continue with his growth and development.
