Chelsea playmaker Willian has recently revealed his desire to work with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho once again in the future amidst speculation linking him with a switch to Old Trafford this summer. According to Sky Sports, the Blues attacker still keeps in touch with the Special One and is looking to be reunited with his former manager someday.
In a post-match interview with ESPN Brazil following Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday, Willian addressed his situation at Stamford Bridge and expressed his affinity for Mourinho. The Brazilian was quoted to have said, “I’ve always made it very clear that I’ve always been very happy playing for Chelsea. I never said that I want to leave the club.”
“Mourinho is the best manager I’ve ever worked with. We have a good relationship, we are friends,”
“Sometimes we talk, we text, we send messages to each other via WhatsApp. He is a great manager, I really enjoyed working with him. I hope I can work with him again someday.”
The 29-year-old has been a subject of a lot of speculation linking him with a switch to Manchester United and Barcelona, however, the latter seems to have opted for Malcom after seeing their three bids for Willian be declined by Chelsea earlier this summer.
The Brazilian’s recent revelation should give Mourinho enough encouragement to try and make one last attempt to secure the services of Willian before the transfer deadline on Thursday. The Blues star had featured in 36 matches in the league under Antonio Conte last season, scoring 6 goals while grabbing 7 assists.
