Leeds United are prepared to go into battle with West Bromwich Albion and Reading in pursuit of Peterborough United midfielder Marcus Maddison this summer. According to HITC Sport, the Whites are weighing up a last-ditch offer to bring the Durham-born talent to Elland Road in the dying embers of this summer transfer window.
It is understood that the West Yorkshire side are a big admirer of the English attacker’s talents with some sources already claiming that the Posh are ready to part ways with their prized asset in the coming days after failing to earn a promotion from the English third tier in the previous campaign.
Maddison can be considered as one of the most promising talents outside of the top two tiers of English football. Since his switch from Gateshead FC in the summer of 2014, the talented midfielder has put on some outstanding displays at the ABAX Stadium over the past few years which has not gone unnoticed by other clubs.
The English prospect has found the back of the net 42 times for Peterborough and has the highest number of assists in all of England since the 2015/16 season with 46 assists to his name during that time.
Although, the Posh are prepared to let him go before the transfer window slams shut in a few days time, yet none of his potential suitors have been able to agree on a fee with the League One side so far. Hence, it is still an open race which Leeds could look to win if they are serious about acquiring Maddison’s services before the start of the second gameweek in the EFL Championship.
