Bookmakers have kept Arsenal as 2/1 favourites to land Barcelona‘s winger Ousmane Dembele. The Frenchman struggled to get going in his first season after a big money move from Borussia Dortmund. Arsenal have been constantly linked with a move for him as they lack depth and quality in the wide regions.
One of the reasons why he has been linked with a move away just after one season is because the Spanish giants have gone on to sign Malcolm. This will add more competition for places and the young French prodigy will have to fight for his place in the playing eleven.
Dembele got a raw deal as soon as he came to Camp Nou as he got injured for a lengthy period of time. It is never easy for a youngster to come to a big club with huge expectations for big money to perform from the word go and on top of that, he wasn’t helped by his injury.
Unai Emery has made some good acquisitions on the defensive front but is yet to sign a winger which seemed like a priority at one point in time as apart from Alex Iwobi, none of the squad players can be classified as an outright winger. Some reports have linked that Barcelona will be willing to send Dembele on loan but with just a few days remaining in the transfer window, Arsenal will have to move in quick if they want to land their target.

Emery will be aware that he will need to deliver a top-four finish in the upcoming season and getting someone like Dembele will be a massive coup for him. However, with the English window closing soon, Barcelona are likely to keep hold of their winger as they will like to give him another opportunity to prove himself after investing over €100m for him just a year back.
