Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri will soon make a decision on whether to make an offer for Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha this summer. According to the Daily Mail, the Blues will decide if they want to step up their chase for the Eagles attacker in the coming days.
It is believed that Sarri will have to cough up a fee in the region of £70m if he wants to bring Zaha to Stamford Bridge before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday. Some sources are now claiming that the Italian manager will sit down with the Chelsea chiefs in order to discuss about a potential deal for the Ivory Coast international with the transfer deadline fast approaching.
The same report has also stated that Zaha is eager to make a move to a top 6 club and has informed his teammates that there is an opportunity for him to leave Selhurst Park in this off-season. However, no club has come close to meeting Palace’s whopping £70m valuation.
The West London giants have so far been reluctant to offer more than £30m plus players on loan. The Ivory Coast sensation, who put pen to paper on a £100,000-a-week new contract at Selhurst Park last year, has declined Palace’s offer of a new deal which would have boosted his weekly wages by another £25,000.
The Eagles are under no pressure to cash in on their prized asset as Zaha still has a number of years left on his current contract at Selhurst Park. A lot will also depend on Willian’s transfer away from Stamford Bridge. If the Brazilian ends up staying in West London, then it is highly unlikely that the Pensioners will make a move for Zaha this summer.
Let’s see what lies ahead in the future of the Ivory Coast prospect and whether he ends up departing Palace before the start of the new season.
