According to the latest reports in the Mirror, Chelsea are the favourites to land Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha. Zaha happens to be one of the hottest properties in English football and Tottenham Hotspur were also in the race to sign him. However, they have been put off by the valuation of the player as the Eagles are currently valuing him at £75m.
That is certainly some big number for someone who just had his first good season in the English top flight. Roy Hodgson has been trying every mean to keep hold of his star man but the player will definitely be tempted to play for some of the top clubs. The Eagles have offered him a new bumper deal but the player is yet to put pen to paper on that improved contract. It’s believed that the new offer would have made him earn £125,000 a week at Selhurst Park.
With Spurs pulling out of the race it leaves Chelsea a clear run to land the winger, however, it remains to be seen whether they will splash 75m for the Ivory Coast international especially if they manage to keep hold of Eden Hazard. Though with Willian constantly being linked with a move away, one can see the 25-year-old as a replacement for the Brazilian.
Hodgson is adamant about keeping his star player but the player believes that this is the perfect time for him to leave Selhurst Park for bigger challenges. He played a vital role in the Eagles squad last season as they managed an 11th place finish after being pointless in the first seven games of the season.

Zaha has improved leaps and bounds in the past year or so but paying £75m for him after just one impressive seems too much at the moment. However, with Palace reluctant to sell him even with a new contract on the table, they are bound to demand such an exorbitant price for their main man.
