Arsenal have an agreement in principle with Sporting CP for the transfer of their centre-forward Lucas Perez this summer. According to A Bola and O Jogo, as reported by the Sport Witness, the two clubs are close to agreeing on a potential deal which will see the Spanish frontman move to the Estádio José Alvalade during this summer transfer period.
However, the same report has also claimed the player is yet to approve on the deal and is far from convinced at the prospect of plying his trade in Portugal which could be a step down in his career. It is believed that the recent attack at Sporting’s training ground has not helped the cause that has led to striker weighing up other offers from Italy and Saudi Arabia.
The North London club were initially demanding a fee in the region of €5m for the player, but A Bola has revealed that Unai Emery’s team have decided to lower their asking price in order to abide by the Portuguese outfit’s requests.
Perez has failed to find a consistent run of form during the course of the last campaign when he featured in 37 matches for Deportivo de La Coruña, scoring 9 goals while creating 8 assists in all competitions.
While his record in Spain is quite good, the fact remains that he has been unable to break into the Gunners first-team and could be shipped out this summer, either on a loan deal or on a permanent transfer.
