According to Daily Star, Arsenal are on their way to offer an escape route to their out-of-favour striker Lucas Perez. As reported by Portuguese news outlet A Bola, the Gunners have agreed a deal worth £4.4m with Liga NOS giants Sporting Lisbon which will see their Spanish forward leave the Emirates this summer.
The 29-year-old, who joined the club a couple of years ago for a fee of £17m, has never been able to settle at the club since his arrival and was loaned out to Deportivo last season. The arrival of players like Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang have pushed him further down the pecking order and the player is now destined to ply his trade somewhere else.
New Arsenal boss Unai Emery was reportedly willing to offer the player a lifeline at the Emirates but the Spaniard has failed to impress the new manager as well. He was interested in signing him while in charge of the French giants Paris Saint Germain but could not strike a deal with the North London club.
However, the report also states that the only glitch in the deal can be the salary demands of the player, which might see the deal not going through. The 29-year-old striker current earns almost £6.2m per year, which might be a turn off for the Portuguese side in their pursuit of the player.

Perez has also been linked with a number of other clubs, one of them being the Italian club Lazio. So it is evident that Sporting are in competition to sign the player and if they can’t meet his wage demands, the deal might be off, leaving the player’s career in oblivion for the time being.
