Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam has indicated that he will be interested in moving back to his former club Rangers. Adam was with the Gers from 2003 to 2009, and one can say that he came into prominence in world football because of his stint with the Glaswegian outfit.
The midfielder later moved on to Blackpool and continued his impressive work which earned him a move to Liverpool. However, he was with the Reds for just one season and later moved on to Stoke City. The midfielder made sporadic appearances last season for the Potters as they went down to the Championship.
The Gers have made some massive acquisitions in the transfer market, and the results are already showing as Gerrard’s men progressed through another round of Europa League qualifiers. Adam will be aware that he will find it tough to get into the playing eleven next season at the Bet 365 Stadium. Therefore one can understand why he won’t mind a move back to Rangers.
The 32-year-old might be past his prime now, but he can be a decent squad player for the Teddy Bears. However, as of now, there seems to be no indication that Gerrard will go after a midfielder having acquired the likes of Ovie Ejaria and Scott Arfield who can play in that central midfield position.
Adam is known for his ability to pick out a pass, and he often switches up play well with his long-range passes. He has a vicious left foot which makes him handy in and around the penalty box. It remains to be seen whether Gary Rowett will let him leave so late in the transfer period. A veteran of over 200 games in the Premier League will come in handy in the Championship as the Potters look to bounce back to the English top flight.
