Chelsea have been desperately looking for a goalkeeper in the transfer market as Thibaut Courtois has openly expressed his desire to leave the club with Real Madrid being the favourites to land him. The Blues have now reignited their interest back in Stoke City‘s custodian Jack Butland.
The Potters went down to the Championship after a dismal season, and it is always tough for a relegated team to keep hold of their star players especially those who are good enough to play in the top division. Xherdan Shaqiri has already parted ways with the club as he went on to join Liverpool and Butland could also move away, now that the transfer window is close to coming to an end.
The Pensioners are linked with quite a few goalkeepers viz, Jordan Pickford and Kasper Schmeichel. However, both of them seem out of bounds for various reasons. Butland is expected to fit in Chelsea’s budget as the 25-year-old is likely to cost around the £30m mark.
The 25-year-old was part of England’s squad for the World Cup, but he didn’t get a look in as Jordan Pickford was the prefered option for Gareth Southgate. Butland has been one of the stand out players for the Potters over the last few seasons and getting a chance to move to Chelsea will be tempting for him.

Butland has bailed out his side on numerous occasions and his shot stopping skill in close quarters is one of his major plus points. Though, he can improve on the distribution side of his game. Given the names which are doing the round, the Englishman looks to be the best bet for the Blues at this point in time as Maurizio Sarri looks to get West London club back to the Champions League next season.
