Chelsea are set to hijack Tottenham Hotspur‘s move to secure the signature of Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish this summer after John Terry backed the move. According to the Sun, as reported by the Daily Star, both London teams are in the race to sign the Villa star during this summer transfer window.
The West London giants have already managed to seal moves for both Jorginho and Rob Green following the arrival of Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge as their new manager earlier this summer. However, it is believed that the Pensioners head coach still wants to add one more midfielder to his squad in the coming days before the transfer window comes come to a close in a few days time.
Some sources are now claiming that Aston Villa are demanding a fee in the region of £20m for their prized asset with recent reports also stating that Chelsea legend John Terry has played an integral role for the Blues to take control of the deal.
A Villa source, close to the Sun, recently weighed in on the transfer and was quoted to have said, “The new owners do not need to sell players but are aware of Financial Fair Play next season, which is out of their hands.”
Grealish suffered the heartbreak of missing out on promotion when his team lost in the Championship play-off final after the West Midlands club were narrowly defeated by Fulham with a 1-0 scoreline. His current deal at Villa Park comes to an end in the summer of 2020 which indicates that the Villa will be under no pressure to sell unless they receive the right offer for him.

The 22-year-old sensation had featured in 34 matches for the Villans last season, registering 3 goals while creating 8 assists across all competitions. The Villa academy product is extremely versatile and primarily plays as a central midfielder but can also be deployed on either flank which makes him a perfect fit for the Pensioners.
