Chelsea have reportedly come to an agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Daniele Rugani this summer. According to the Transfer Market Web, as reported by the Express, the Blues have “achieved a transfer deal” with the Serie A giants ahead of a potential transfer during this summer transfer period.
Some sources have recently claimed that the West London outfit has agreed on a £36m (€40m) fee for the Italian defensive ace. However, there is a huge stumbling block for any potential deal to take place as the player is “slightly doubtful” whether to leave the Juventus Stadium in favour of a move to Stamford Bridge in the coming days before the transfer window comes to a close in a few days time.
Rugani might still have an integral part to play in Massimiliano Allegri’s Juve side next season, especially if Andrea Barzagli is shipped out of the club. Hence, the Italian centre-back’s desire to stay at Turin will be a big blow for Maurizio Sarri’s chances of being reunited with his former player.
The 24-year-old is vastly experienced in the Serie A, having made 92 appearances in the top tier of Italian football during his career. He also has seven goals and two assists to his name while plying his trade in Italy’s top-flight.
However, English football is quite demanding and the Italian prospect might take some time to get used to the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League. Hence, Sarri should consider moving on to other defensive targets if Rugani’s heart is not set on a move to West London.
