Chelsea are still looking to snap up Juventus forward Gonzalo Higuaín this summer. According to the Evening Standard, the Blues are still pushing for a deal to secure the services of the Argentine striker during this summer transfer period.
However, the West London club’s pursuit is getting weaker with each day, especially after recent speculation linking the Juve frontman with a loan switch to AC Milan with an option to make the deal permanent next summer. It is believed that the San Siro-based outfit are the London club’s biggest competitor in the race to sign Higuain. Thus, Chelsea’s new Italian boss Maurizio Sarri needs to act quickly or risk losing his transfer target this summer.
The Pensioners forward Alvaro Morata has failed to live up to the high expectations at Stamford Bridge so far. Hence, Sarri is trying to recruit a new striker who can bang in the goals on a regular basis. Higuain has already proven during his time in Italy and Spain that he is proven goal-getter which makes him an ideal candidate for Sarri’s team.
Recent reports have claimed that Sarri has asked the club directors to land the Argentine sensation this summer but the Chelsea board is yet to make an official approach for the player which will be a major cause for concern.
The Blues of London had an underwhelming campaign last term when they failed to finish in the top 4 of the English top-flight. The West London club is now looking to bounce back under the stewardship of Sarri in the upcoming campaign so that Chelsea can compete with the best teams in Europe next year.
