Chelsea are hoping to secure the services of both Mattia Caldara from Juventus and Matias Vecino from Inter Milan this summer. According to the Evening Standard, as reported by the Sport Review, the Blues are keen on sealing moves for both Serie A players during this summer transfer period.
It is understood that the new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is eager to raid the Italian top-flight in search of some worthy talents who can improve his squad at Stamford Bridge before the start of the new campaign. The same report states the West London giants have already begun talks with Inter Milan over the possible transfer of Vecino but the Serie A heavyweights are demanding a fee in the region of £31m for their prized asset.
According to the same source, Sarri has also tabled a £35.5m bid for Juve defensive ace Caldara in order to bolster his defensive options before the transfer window comes to a halt next week.
It has also been suggested that the Pensioners are getting increasingly frustrated with the lack of progress in their pursuit of Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani. Hence, they could turn their attention to other transfer targets in an effort to build a strong enough squad capable of challenging on all fronts next term.
The Blues of London had a mediocre campaign last term when they missed out on a top 4 berth but were able to secure the FA Cup with a narrow 1-0 victory over Manchester United. The English heavyweights will now be expected to push on and compete for major silverware in the upcoming campaign with their new Italian manager Sarri at the helm.
