Latest reports suggest that Newcastle United are not set to bid for Bristol City’s defensive ace Joe Bryan. The player is valued at £6m and this latest development can mean good news for West Ham United as they are also one the clubs who have shown an interest to sign the left back. The 24-year-old defender can be termed as one of the hottest properties in the Championship and moving to the Premier League will be the next big step in his career.
Manuel Pellegrini has taken some massive strides in the transfer market as they have made one signing after another. However, it will be a big challenge for the Chilean manager to get all the players gelling together in such a short period of time.
Bryan has all the components that a modern full-back needs as he is equally adept at going forward and at defending as well. He was one of the standout players for the Robins last season and a performance like that hasn’t gone unnoticed. The 24-year-old made 48 appearances in the Championship last term and contributed with a healthy tally of 7 goals and 3 assists.
Bryan will have to compete for a place in the playing eleven with the likes of Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku if he goes on to join the East London outfit. Last season under David Moyes, the Hammers played in a system of three at the back and the fullback played in a more advanced wingback role. It remains to be seen what tactics the Chilean manager will deploy in the upcoming season.
The 24-year-old is a product of the Robins academy and is one of the fan favourites at the club. Bristol City wouldn’t want to see him leave but one can say that he is too good a player to play in the Championship. A move to the Premier League will bring more limelight towards him and a good performance might even propel him to the doors of the Three Lions squad.

The player is known for his pace and dribbling skills and is often a difficult customer to handle down the left. While defending he reads the situation well but given his attacking prowess he can be more lethal if used further up the pitch so one shouldn’t be surprised in Pellegrini deploys him in a more advanced role.
