Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha sent his fans into a frenzy as he recently posted a cryptic message on social media which said,”Today is the day I make a change with everything.” As a result of this, the rumours of him leaving has intensified as he is currently one of the hottest properties in English football.
The winger had a terrific season at Selhurst Park last season as he finally came on his own. Zaha always had an abundance of talent but over the years he wasn’t able to bring that out on the pitch. He had good pace and dribbling skills even when he was at Manchester United but last season he added more end product to his game.
The 25-year-old managed to find the back of the net 9 times and provided a further 5 assists. Whenever he was on the pitch, the Eagles looked more threatening on the attacking front and Roy Hodgson even deployed the Ivory Coast international in a false 9 role.
The Eagles have been trying tooth and nail to keep hold of their star winger, however, a move to top Premier League clubs will be tempting. Palace are set to make him their best-paid player but only time will tell whether that will be enough to keep hold of their star asset.
Palace had a horrible start to their last campaign under Frank De Boer and they went pointless in their first seven games. Palace went on to appoint Roy Hodgson as their new manager and his signing was looked with a lot of scepticism. However, the former English manager went on to show his worth as he slowly improved the side and in the end, they went on to finish 11th when it looked like they were doomed for relegation.
Zaha was a crucial player in his setup as Christian Benteke was having a dismal season and most of the creative and goalscoring onus fell on the shoulders of the 25-year-old. One can say that Benteke’s poor form was a blessing in disguise as that allowed Hodgson to experiment with Zaha in the false 9 role which provided good results in the end.

It is still not clear what the winger meant in his Instagram post but the Eagles faithful will be hoping that their star man stays at the club for at least another year as he is slowly reaching the peak of his career.
