West Ham United are looking to secure the signature of LOSC Lille right-back Kévin Malcuit this summer. According to recent reports, the Hammers are planning to seal a move for the Ligue 1 ace during this summer transfer window. It is understood that West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini is still looking to add more quality to his squad and has identified the French defender as an ideal candidate to take up the full-back duties at the London Stadium next season.
Some sources are now claiming that the Hammers are keen to bring him to East London in the coming weeks as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for a European place in the upcoming campaign. However, they are not the only ones looking to snap up the Ligue 1 prospect and will face stiff competition from Celtic Vigo and Fulham in the race to secure his signature in this off-season.
The 26-year-old had put in a number of solid displays for Lille during the course of last season which has not gone unnoticed by other clubs. He has made 58 appearances in the French top tier and has 9 assists to his name. However, the Frenchman is yet to earn an international cap for his country so far in his career.
Malcuit is exactly the kind of talent who can flourish under the leadership of Pellegrini if given the chance to showcase his abilities at the London Stadium in the upcoming campaign.
The East London club were able to achieve a 13th placed finish in the English first division in the last campaign. West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini is still looking to add a few more players in this ongoing transfer period so that his players can challenge for a top 7 finish next term.
The addition of Malcuit will undoubtedly bolster Pellegrini’s defensive options at East London. The Hammers have the likes of Aaron Cresswell, Pablo Zabaleta and Sam Byram vying for a right-back berth in their starting XI. The potential acquisition of Malcuit will definitely add more competition for places within Pellegrini’s squad and improve their team significantly ahead of the new season.
