Chelsea are plotting a move for Bayer 04 Leverkusen wide man Leon Bailey this summer. According to recent reports, the Blues are hoping to bring the Jamaican starlet to the Stamford Bridge during this summer transfer period. It is understood that the new Chelsea head coach, Maurizio Sarri is planning to strengthen his squad before the transfer window slams shut next month and Bailey fits the bill perfectly.
Some sources are now claiming that the West London outfit are weighing up an offer for the Leverkusen wonderkid in the coming weeks. However, with Willian set to stay at the club, Chelsea could cool their interest on Bailey which will hand AS Roma all the initiative to seal a move for the Jamaican in this post-season.
It has been suggested the Italian giants are currently leading the chase after they missed out on Malcom earlier this month. However, the Blues should definitely go all out to snap up the Leverkusen winger this summer as he has the potential to be a future star in European football.
Bailey had put in a string of fantastic displays for the German outfit during the course of last season which has not gone unnoticed by other clubs. The Jamaican is exactly the kind of prospect who can flourish under the guidance of Sarri if given the opportunity to ply his trade at Stamford Bridge next season.
The West London club couldn’t manage to secure a top 4 spot last season so the Italian head coach needs to recruit wisely in these final weeks of this ongoing window if he is serious about challenging for top honours in the following campaign.
The potential acquisition of Bailey will undoubtedly improve Sarri’s attacking options at the Bridge. Chelsea have some top-class wide men in their ranks such as Eden Hazard, Pedro, Willian and Victor Moses who are all competing for a spot in Sarri’s starting XI. The addition of Bailey will definitely bolster their team significantly and add more competition for places within the Blues squad.

It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Bailey and whether he ends up plying his trade at Stamford Bridge before the start of the new campaign.
