Sunderland AFC have completed the signing of Jerome Sinclair on a season-long loan deal from Watford. The Black Cats manager Jack Ross adds Sinclair to his roster as the eight signing of the summer.
On Sinclair’s arrival, Ross stated, “We need more players in the forward areas and Jerome is somebody who fits into that bracket, as he can play in multiple positions across the front line. I’m pleased to get him in and he’s at a stage in his career where he needs to play games, so he’s hungry to prove himself and he’s got a big opportunity here to do that.”
Sinclair was born in Birmingham and started his career with West Bromwich Albion before making a switch to English powerhouse Liverpool. He worked hard with the youth set-up and impressed enough to be handed a debut appearance with the Liverpool first-team. He was just a teenager when he made his debut for the Reds. Much credit goes to the development team at Melwood as they played a key part is developing Sinclair into the player he is today.
In 2015, he had a short spell on loan away at Wigan Athletic. He impressed the Liverpool scouts and the club called him back to continue his development. Sinclair made his Premier League debut in West London as they locked horns with Chelsea in an exhilarating tie which ended one apiece. His first senior goal came at the expense of Exeter City in an FA Cup third round clash on the 8th of January.
Liverpool, however, did not see Sinclair in their future plans and the 21-year-old signed for Premier League team Watford in the summer of 2016. He signed a five year deal with the Hornets but managed to make just 9 appearances in the Premier League. He was then sent on loan to Birmingham City in the Sky Bet Championship, presently knows as the EFL Championship.

His loan deal will benefit Watford as the young striker will be given time on the pitch to adjust to the competitiveness that professional football has to offer to him. He has represented England at the Under-16 and under-17 levels which gave him further exposure in the modern game.
