Liverpool are easily one of the busiest sides in the transfer market this summer. They have spent close to £200m already and though it is suggested that there will be no more signings this summer, they continue to be linked with a host of exciting talent recently. However, they will now turn their attention to reducing the wage burden on the club, selling and loaning out players, who have no role in the first team next season.
There are a number of players who are up for grabs this summer from Anfield, but one player Klopp wants to retain for the next season is young Dominic Solanke.
The English youngster joined Liverpool last summer from Chelsea’s academy and was only expected to join Liverpool’s academy. However, Klopp saw enough promise in him, to hand him a place in the first team squad regularly. He had made 21 Premier League appearances all season, registering a goal and an assist and has been impressive on more occasions than one.
He is a tall and a skillful striker, with a keen eye for goal and he could have easily scored five more goals last season. The chance to play regularly for a club like Liverpool has not fazed him one bit but he seems to lack confidence on his final touch, as he missed simple chances for the Reds time and again.
However, Liverpool have not placed him on the list of players up for sale this summer as Klopp seems happy for Solanke to learn from the first team at Anfield. The likes of Divock Origi and Danny Ings are put up for sale and not Solanke, which is a hint of how much of game time Klopp has in store for the 20-year old.
The German tactician has also been vocal about how he is ready to give Daniel Sturridge a chance to regain his past glory, in what is the final year of his current contract with the Reds. However, his injury history will mean that the former Chelsea man will be the most dependable backup to Roberto Firmino if both Ings and Origi are sold.
Solanke might need to play regularly to reach his potential but Klopp has the knack of getting the best out of youngsters and if he believes that Solanke is a star in the making, there is no separating the pair.

It is understood that Steven Gerrard is open to taking the youngster on loan but at the moment, his immediate future is only at Anfield. But do you think Liverpool should send him on loan and retain one of Ings or Origi for the next season?
