Rangers have taken some massive strides in the transfer market and having someone like Steven Gerrard at the helm of the club has certainly helped them. They have already landed three players with Liverpool connection; Ovie Ejaria and Ryan Kent on loan deals and Jon Flanagan on a free transfer. There were strong rumours that the Gers boss will look to land English striker Dominic Solanke on loan as well.
However, latest reports suggest that Solanke’s name is not on the list of players which Liverpool have decided to sell or send on loan this summer which could mean that the 20-year-old Englishman is in the plans of Jurgen Klopp for the upcoming season.
The Englishman moved to the Merseyside club from Chelsea in search of greener pastures but struggled to get game time at Anfield. He was usually confined to making substitute appearances where he looked average at best. With the resurgence of Daniel Sturridge in the preseason, Liverpool are set to hold on to their 28-year-old injury prone striker and that will probably put Solanke further down the pecking order.
One cannot blame Klopp for not getting Solanke enough game time as his front three had scored goals galore last season. The German manager will hope that all three will pick their game from where they left off last season and that would mean more struggle for the likes of Solanke and others in terms of playing minutes.
Rangers went past Shkupi over the two legs in the Europa League qualifiers, however, Alfredo Morelos was found wanting in those encounters. The Teddy Bears have made the signing of Umar Sadiq on loan but one feels that they will certainly be better placed to challenge their rivals Celtic if they can land someone like Solanke.
The 20-year-old has been impressive for England at the youth level, however, he hasn’t been unable to emulate that form for his club. He has all the attributes which a no. 9 needs as he is physically strong and has an eye for goal. His hold up play is also up to the mark and one feels that with more game time under his belt, he can definitely find his goal-scoring touch.

There have been reports that Klopp wants to offload the likes of Divock Origi and Danny Ings so that could be one of the reasons why he is keen to hold on to the Englishman. That piece of news certainly doesn’t bode well for the Gers as it seems likely now that they are going to miss out on signing the 20-year-old striker.
