Some sources have recently claimed that the Hammers are eager to the Japanese talent to East London in the coming weeks. However, they are not the only ones looking to recruit him and will face stiff competition from Newcastle United in pursuit of the Bundesliga sensation’s signature.
Muto has put in a number of majestic displays for Mainz during the course of last season which has not gone unnoticed by other clubs. The 26-year-old had scored 20 goals while grabbing 10 assists in 66 Bundesliga appearances during his career. The East London outfit were able to grind out a 13th placed finish in the English first division last season. West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini will now look to add a few more players in this ongoing transfer period so that he has a strong squad to choose from at the London Stadium next term.
The addition of Muto will undoubtedly bolster Pellegrini’s attacking options at East London. The Hammers have the likes of Javier Hernandez, Andy Carroll, Andriy Yarmolenko and Marko Arnautovic vying for a place in their starting XI. The potential acquisition of Muto will definitely add more competition for places within Pellegrini’s squad as they look to secure a strong league finish in the new campaign.
