For the first time in his vast managerial career, Marcelo Bielsa will take charge of an English club next season. He has been appointed as the manager of Championship outfit Leeds United and will be expected to take the club closer to promotion next season.
Given the lack of transfer activity at the Elland Road outfit, the manager is not totally convinced with the squad at his disposal and continues to be linked with some exciting names for a move this summer. One such name now doing the rounds is the Portuguese starlet Domingos Quina.
Born and brought up in Guinea-Bissau, the 18-year old first moved to England with Chelsea’s academy in 2013 and spent just three years at the club, before joining West Ham United’s academy in 2016. He made two Europa League appearances in his first season at the club but was refined to the U23’s for the entire campaign last time around.
He registered two goals and an assist in the youth league and has shown enough promise to attract interest from Europe. Quina is a gifted footballer, who loves to have the ball at his feet. He is confident of his abilities and can challenge even the toughest of opponents, at the highest stage. The youngster can play in several positions, even in a defensive role and is a versatile midfielder who has a great future ahead of him.
It is understood that Manuel Pellegrini does not see him in his long-term plans and is happy to let him leave this summer. West Ham have slapped a price tag of just £600,000, which should not be an issue for his potential suitors. And reports now suggest that Leeds United are not the only side interested in his services.
According to the latest stories, the Catalan giants Barcelona and Premier League side, Newcastle United are both desperate to sign Quina. This will come as a blow for Bielsa’s side, who have been scouting for Quina for a while now. However, they are still in a strong position to land the Portuguese youngster as the lure of regular playing time in the Championship might be too much for the 18-year old to resist.

Quina has the potential to be a world beater in the years to come and needs to play regularly to make sure that he continues his progress. He has two caps for the Portugal U20 side and is not too far away from a national call. All of this at 18, makes him a potential superstar. But do you think Leeds United can land him this summer?
