Everton have completed the signing of Richarlison for an astronomical figure of £50m and that could only mean one thing, there will be some departures from the club. One of the players who can be shown the door is Dutch attacking midfielder Davy Klaassen. The Toffees, then under Ronald Koeman, signed him for £23.5m after the Dutchman helped a young Ajax team to the Europa League final. However, he has made just 7 appearances in the Premier League and could be on his way from the club after just one season.
Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen are said to have enquired about landing the 25-year-old. The Merseyside club will be looking to recoup as much money as possible for the attacking midfielder but it is highly unlikely that they will come close to recovering the full amount for him as the player hardly played in the last campaign.
After Sam Allardyce was brought in the club, Klaassen hardly got any chances to show his class as he was usually confined to the bench. He didn’t even have any major injury issues as Allardyce deemed him not good enough to play at the Goodison Park.
We have often seen certain players get sidelined after the manager who signs the player departs from the club. Koeman rated his countryman highly and had no qualms in paying over £20m to acquire his services. Now with Marco Silva at the helm of the club, there seems to be no point of return for the midfielder.
Silva has given clear indication that there will be departures in the summer and the Dutchman’s name is very likely to be in it. The midfielder is technically good on the ball and is a great reader of the game. The 25-year-old often manages to find himself in a pocket of space in midfield which allows him to influence play from there. Maybe the manager believes that his game will not be suited to the Premier League, however, one can say that it will be an unfair deal for the player if he doesn’t get any chance to prove himself to the new manager if he is sold in the current transfer window.

Werder Bremen finished 11th in the German top flight last season and it is likely that he will get much more game time with the German outfit. Given that he is 25, he should be at the peak of his career and a move away from Goodison Park seems like a good deal for everyone involved.
