Crystal Palace are interested in securing the services of Liverpool striker Danny Ings this summer. According to recent reports, the Reds forward is on Palace’s radar ahead of a potential move during the summer transfer period. It is understood that a fee in the region of £20m plus add-ons will be enough to convince the Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to part ways with his prized asset.
However, the Eagles are not the only ones looking to recruit Ings and they will face stiff competition from the likes of Newcastle United and Southampton in pursuit of the English frontman’s signature. It is highly likely that the Merseyside club could let him leave this summer so that he can reignite his career by gaining some regular first-team experience someplace else.
Ings has been plagued with injuries in recent times which has seen him become a sporadic feature for the Reds under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield. However, he still managed to feature in some matches for Liverpool in the second half of the last campaign. The English centre-forward needs more first-team run outs if he is serious about reigniting his career in the upcoming season. Hence, a move out of Merseyside could be his best option at the moment unless he is ready to play second-fiddle to the likes of Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge in Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
The 26-year-old had made 23 appearances for the Merseyside giants last season, scoring 2 goals while registering 2 assists in all competitions. Ings is exactly the kind of forward who can thrive under the guidance of Roy Hodgson if given the opportunity to lace up at Selhurst Park next term.
Hodgson’s Palace side had to endure a difficult league campaign last term but still managed to attain a healthy 11th place finish in the top tier of English football. However, the Eagles need to make some worthy additions to their squad if they are to avoid being dragged into the relegation dogfight next year.
The potential acquisition of Ings will definitely improve Hodgson’s attacking options at Selhurst Park. The London outfit has a whole host of talented forwards such as Wilfried Zaha, Christian Benteke, Alexander Sørloth and Connor Wickham vying for a place up top in the Eagles starting XI. The addition of Ings will undoubtedly bolster their team significantly and add more competition for places within Hodgson’s squad.

At 26, the English talent still has his best years ahead of him which the Londoners could look to benefit from, in the next few seasons. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Ings and whether he ends up plying his trade at Selhurst Park next term.
