Celtic are currently the favourites to land Liverpool forward Danny Ings this summer. According to some United Kingdom bookmakers, the Hoops are leading the chase to sign the English forward during this summer transfer period. It is believed that the Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season and his side are currently front of the queue to seal a move for the Reds striker.
United Kingdom bookmakers, Skybet has priced Celtic as 15/8 favourites to land the player before the end of this transfer period. Some sources have previously claimed that the Merseyside club are looking for a fee in the region of £20m for their prized asset. Skybet has priced Southampton at 2/1 who are the second favourites with Crystal Palace listed at 9/1 outsiders to secure his services in this post-season.
Ings has been plagued with injuries in recent times which has seen him fall down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp at the Merseyside club. However, he still managed to make some appearances for the Reds in the second half of the last campaign. The English frontman needs more game time if he is serious about reigniting his career in the upcoming season. Hence, a move out of Anfield could be his best option unless he is prepared to play second-fiddle to Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge in Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
The English striker had made 23 appearances for Liverpool last season, scoring 2 goals while providing 2 assists in all competitions. The 25-year-old is exactly the kind of forward who can thrive under the guidance of Rodgers if given the opportunity to lace up at Celtic Park next term.
The Glaswegian outfit managed to achieve another domestic treble last season and have also begun this campaign on a positive note after winning two back-to-back matches with a 3-0 scoreline in Europe. Rodgers still needs to add a few pieces to his Celtic jigsaw in the coming weeks if his team are to continue their domination in the top tier of Scottish football next season.
The addition of Ings will definitely improve Rodgers’ attacking options ahead of the new season. Celtic have a whole host of promising frontmen in their squad such as Moussa Dembélé, Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths who are all competing for a place up top in Rodgers’ starting XI.

The potential acquisition of Ings will undoubtedly bolster their team significantly and add more competition for places within the Bhoys squad. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Ings and whether he ends up sealing a move to Parkhead this summer.
