Rangers are lining up a swoop of Bolton Wanderers centre-back Mark Beevers this summer. According to recent reports, the Gers are planning to make a move for the English defender during this summer transfer period as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
It is believed that the Teddy Bears sent a scout down south to catch the English talent in action for the Wanderers last weekend as the Championship side faced off against Girona which ended in a goalless draw. Some sources are now claiming that Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is prepared to seal a move for the defender, who has less than a year left to run in his current deal with the Greater Manchester club.
It has also been suggested that Bolton are aware of the interest surrounding their prized asset with the Ibrox Stadium being touted as a likely destination for the English defensive ace going into the new campaign.
Beevers is vastly experienced in English football after having made over 100 appearances for Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall during the course of his career. The Bolton star is exactly the kind of talent who could thrive under the leadership of Gerrard if given the opportunity to showcase his expertise at the Ibrox Stadium next season.
The Glaswegian outfit had a forgetful campaign last term but the appointment of Gerrard as their new boss earlier this summer has raised the spirits of the Gers faithful. The English manager will now need to make some smart acquisitions to his squad if his players are to close the gap to their nearest rivals, Celtic, in the upcoming campaign.
The addition of Beevers will definitely bolster Gerrard’s defensive options ahead of the new campaign. The Teddy Bears have some promising defensive talents in their ranks such as Connor Goldson, Nikola Katić and Myles Beerman vying for a central defensive berth in Gerrard’s starting XI. The potential acquisition of Beevers will undoubtedly improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within the Rangers squad.

At 28, the English centre-back is currently at his peak which the Gers could look to benefit from, in the next few seasons. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Beevers and whether he ends up plying his trade at the Ibrox Stadium before the start of the new season.
