West Bromwich Albion will be looking to bounce back to the Premier League after a dismal season in the last campaign which saw them finish rock bottom of the table. They have handed over the club’s mantle to Darren Moore who showed promising signs as a caretaker manager in the business end of the last season. It is expected that some of the top players will leave the club in the summer and Moore will have to find replacements for them in the transfer market.
As per latest reports, they are close to securing a loan move for Leicester City‘s 20-year-old midfielder Harvey Barnes. Barnes spent the first half of last season on loan to Barnsley where he did a decent job. After his impressive displays in the Championship, Claude Puel went on to call him back to the King Power Stadium. The player is a product of Leicester City’s youth academy and the Foxes will hope that he can turn out to be a real talent in a few years time.
Last season, he had made 23 appearances in the Championship and he usually played down the left side of midfield. He contributed with 5 goals and four assists and looked at home in the English second division. Coming back to Leicester, he played just 7 minutes in the Premier League over three games as he came late into the games generally for time-wasting purposes.
The 20-year-old will find it hard to get some game time with the Foxes so moving to the Baggies will be a good move for his overall development. Barnes is also an England international at the u-20 level and given his potential and talent, Moore will hope to get the youngster on a season-long loan.
The Baggies are decently covered in the left midfield/winger position as they have the likes of Nacer Chadli, Chris Brunt and Hal Robson Kanu who all can play in that role. Maybe Moore is preparing for a departure in the summer as there will be quite a few takers for someone like Chadli who had a decent run in the World Cup for Belgium.

The 20-year-old was not recently part of Leicester’s preseason game so that might be an indication that he isn’t in Puel’s plan for the upcoming season. The Englishman has decent pace which makes him a threatening feature down the left side. His work rate is also top notch and that could be one of the reasons why Moore is after Barnes.
